William “Bill” B. Nemon, 92, loving Father and Grandfather, of Temperance, MI, and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015, in Hickory Ridge Care Center of Temperance, MI, also under the care of Hospice (Promedica). Born November 10, 1922 in Littleton, Colorado, he was the son of Joseph and Regina Nemon.
During WWII, he worked at the Willy’s Overland (1941-43). He later worked at the Toledo Country Club, Four seasons, Commodore Perry while retiring from the City of Toledo after 25 years of service. He also was a showman, working at various fairs across the state, taking cues from his cousin and entertainer Danny Thomas (founder of St. Jude Childrens Hospital).
He also became a comedian, working with Benny Kaminsky, Hershy Holt, just to name a few. He also was known at events for his musical ability at playing the “bones”.
Bill will also be remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate Father. Thank you Dad, for your love and always being there for us and teaching us that “honesty” is always the best policy.
The name William means “protector”, which is what he was.
Bill was always involved in his children’s lives. Every Sunday, he would take us to the park, movies, rides, swimming, etc..
Thank you Dad for your faithfulness.
Bill devoted many years volunteering his services to his Church (Blessed Sacrament) and St Francis DeSales (Downtown) visiting the sick, while also taking time to read stories to under privileged children.
Preceded in death by daughters, Diane, Maureen, brothers Sam Nemon, Sister Thelma Clinker and Grandson Jason DeVaughn.
Bill is survived by six loving children, Doreen Nemon, Noreen LaLonde, Donna (Duane) Ehlers, Cecelia DeVaughn, William (Linda) Nemon, Regina (Jack) Phelps, 13 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grand children.
Hearth felt appreciation and thanks to the staff at Hickory Ridge and Hospice (Promedica) – contribution in lieu of flowers to St. Jude, Little Sisters of the Poor or Cherry Street Mission.
Visitation will be Friday, May 29, 2015, from 2-8 pm at Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:00 am followed by private burial. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
